Who are the Kantorei KC Choral Scholars?
Kantorei KC is a professional vocal ensemble founded by Chris Munce in 2009. Choral Scholars is an auditioned group of young (or young at heart) adults age 18 and up who join us for a few days at a time to create high level performances and gain valuable professional experience. There is no upper age limit.
This group began in 2013 as the pilot ensemble of the Kantorei Summer Choral Institute. Then in 2019, the two groups first combined for a major project giving the American Premier of Will Todd’s Passion at the National American Choral Director’s conference. This evolution has culminated in a unique music making model, and we can’t wait to see where it brings us in the future.

Singers Come Prepared
Each singer admitted to the ensemble makes a commitment to come fully prepared to the first rehearsal! This means we can get to the “good stuff” right away!
Collaborate with seasoned pros
Kantorei KC’s staff of 12 trained and experienced pro choral singers super charges our rehearsal process, and provides artistic leadership to each of our young collaborators.

- Rehearsals begin at 6pm Wednesday-Friday
- We rehearse Saturday 10-2pm (Lunch provided.)
NEW this year, we have evened out the fees between the two events. Now both events are only $60 each. If you can commit to both December and June, you get them each for $50!
Innovative programs
When Kantorei KC and Choral Scholars get together, MAGIC happens. We love to explore the repertoire that rarely gets performed. Either because it is too difficult for the school choir, or because it simply has not been discovered. Each concert is sure to bring singers and audiences alike to new sounds.
Valuable Professional Experience
The music will be sent to you one month before the first rehearsal. This lets you control the pace of your preparation, ensuring that you arrive ready to truly use your voice. When available, sample recordings will also be provided.
